Saint Laurent Inspects Historical Female Aviators for SS24.

Updated: Sep 29, 2023

Vaccarello brought friends, family, and famous guests, including Kate Moss, Hailey Bieber, and Zoe Kravitz, to a vintage Saint Laurent presentation for SS24.

Anthony Vaccarello

The marbled stage was polished and elegant, with powerful Parisian ladies. The designer paid homage to Saint Laurent's founding, traversing its 70-year history with sensuous and stylish casual ensembles.

Vaccarello was inspired by era-defining female pilots and aviators, expressing their ruthlessness across a dynamic collection based in functionality. Femininity and masculinity clashed over pockets jumpsuits fastened at the waist, which were followed by khaki bottoms and buttoned tank tops. Oversized sunglasses and head hats protect its wearers from high winds, while leather gloves are designed for driving.

Safari coats and pleated pants soaked in burgundy, chocolate, and cream walked the Saint Laurent catwalk, offset with transparent tops that defined the human form. Untucked shirting and cargo-style dresses were classicly cut, with dazzling satin dresses with low-slung necklines. Saint Laurent's SS24 collection was innovative and daring, paying homage to the House's restless beginnings through a current vision.
