Celebrities are loving corkscrew curls right now. The likes of Emily Ratajkowski, Bella Hadid, Katie Holmes and Blake Lively have collectively ushered in the return of the perm with super curly hairstyles – and Maya Jama just put forward her own case for the retro style.

On an evening out in London’s Mayfair, Jama swapped her signature silky lengths for tight, corkscrew curls. The perfect partner to her sheer Jean Paul Gaultier catsuit, her bouncy curls were styled into a faux quiff and half ponytail, somewhat reminiscent of the iconic Whitney Houston in the 1980s. The look also summoned Irina Shayk’s recent “punk princess” perm, which she wore for the Prince’s Trust Gala in New York, with a corseted Vivienne Westwood LBD. With a mohawk of curls, graphic black eyeliner and a red lip to boot, the supermodel’s look was the definition of killer.
